Our condolences to the family of Jewel James Chubbuck, founder of BRWTA

Jewel James Chubbuck was the founder and first BRWTA president.  We will be making a donation in her memory from BRWTA.  Her obituary is listed below:

Jewel James Chubbuck passed away on October 7, 2016 at the age of 92.  She was born in Canadian, OK on November 16, 1923.  She was a long time resident of Baton Rouge along with her husband, Dr. Edwin R. Chubbuck, retired Professor of Engineering at LSU.  The couple met during WWII when Ed was a Naval Officer and Jewel was attending college.  Jewel and Ed were married for 72 wonderful years and shared many of life’s adventures together.  Both were avid tennis and golf players.  They loved to travel and visit their friends.  Jewel was a member of First Presbyterian Church, LSU Faculty Club Senior Women’s Tennis Association and founder of Baton Rouge Women’s Tennis Association.

Jewel was preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Frequlia and Betty Kelley and a brother, John, Jr.  She is survived by her husband, Edwin, daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Patrick McDonough, granddaughter and husband, Linnzie and Kyle Kelin, great granddaughter, Kylie Kelin, sisters Ruth Jones and Caroline blink, brother-in-law, John Blink and brother Bill James.  The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to OLOL, The Crossing Hospice facility and Pinnacle Hospice for their caring treatment of Jewel and her family.  Donations can be made to “The Crossing” or Pinnacle Hospice.
